About Us
Willow Creek Academy was founded by a group of dedicated families and community members in September, 2001. Starting with 37 students, Willow Creek has grown to a population of 253 students in grades K-8 and represents over 67 percent of the Sausalito-Marin City School District's overall enrollment. Willow Creek was ranked #6 out of all 809 public charter schools in the state by the University of Southern California. In 2010, WCA received a California Distinguished School Award from the California State Board of Education. Our 2011 API score was 889, above average among Marin County schools.
Our kindergarten through eighth grade program is arranged to provide students with developmentally appropriate support:
Grades K-1 encourage social development, and focus on skill readiness activities;
Grades 2-5 address mastery of foundational knowledge and skills for continued learning;
Grades 6-7 take advantage of small group learning and academic specialization options;
Grade 8 focuses on learning communities and action teams, service learning, and simulating democratic living.

After School Programs

Students are invited to participate in on-campus after school programs through the Boys and Girls Club and the After School Enrichment Program. Both programs offer extended learning opportunities that enrich our students' curriculum.
Arts Integration

Teachers integrate the arts into social studies, math, science, and language arts lessons. Thanks to our partnership with Youth in Arts, students participate in weekly art classes, and teachers receive professional development in arts integration on a monthly basis.
Creek Restoration Project
Our students are proud to participate in efforts to restore native plant species to our local Willow Creek. Families and school staff are partnering with Friends of Willow Creek and the Headlands Nursery to learn more about our native flora.
